IIS 7.0 is a new platform that just launched in February 2008. IIS7 is quite different from IIS6. Applications that worked on IIS 6.0 may or may not migrate as is to IIS 7.0. Therefore, for customers migrating from IIS6 Hosting to IIS7 Hosting, we recommend testing your applications on your local development server.

These IIS Management tools are available for all DiscountASP.NET customers in their hosting control panel. (See: Live CP Demo) ASP.NET Version Chooser Tool Choose between ASP.NET 4.0 and ASP.NET 2.0/3.5. You can manage switching yourself. Microsoft IIS Manager Permissions Control Customers can enable User permissions for Microsoft IIS Manager access. Enable New IIS7 Manager UI Extensions Customers can enable access to new IIS7 Manager UI Extensions developed by DiscountASP.NET and Microsoft. (More Info) Pipeline Mode Selector Customers can select between integrated or classic pipeline mode. Recycle Application Pool Allows customers to shut down the process hosting their web application on demand and spawn a new process. This tool is extremely useful to recycle a hung application, release locked files or databases, or to reset session variables. DiscountASP.NET hosts each web site in its own isolated application pool, therefore this tool can be used without affecting other customer web sites. IIS 7.0 - Modular Architecture IIS 7.0 is factored into more than 40 feature modules that can be independently installed on the box. IIS 7.0 - Extensibility IIS7 enables developers to extend the Web server in many more ways. The IIS7 core web server features are built using a new set of public Web server APIs that all developers can use to extend, replace or add functionality to the web server. These APIs are available as both native Win32 APIs as well as managed .NET Framework APIs. Developers can also take advantage of IIS7’s extensibility of event logging, configuration, and administration tool feature-sets. IIS 7.0 - Unified Configuration IIS7 provides developers and administrators a unified configuration system for storing all IIS and ASP.NET settings in a single XML format and includes a set of managed code and scripting APIs for accessing configuration for the entire Web platform.
